Dyslipidemia Case Study Course for Healthcare Providers: Applying the Canadian Cardiovascular Society Guidelines for Primary and Secondary Prevention of Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease

Based on the 2021 CCS Dyslipidemia Guidelines, this interactive, case-based course aims to inform and educate healthcare providers about the optimal primary and secondary prevention strategies for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) in adults. Participants can navigate dynamic slides to review three clinical scenarios, make choices that lead to different outcomes, and receive expert feedback on their decisions.

Learning Objectives

• Identify the CCS Dyslipidemia Guidelines figures for primary and secondary prevention and apply the concepts in practice
• Describe approaches for assessing and managing statin-associated muscle complications
• Consider different approaches, assess barriers, and individualize care plans to promote treatment and reduce cardiovascular risk in patients who are hesitant to take statin medications
• Summarize treatment intensification options for adults with lipid levels above threshold levels and who are on maximally tolerated statin doses
